Promoting the integrity of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and Tools

The Hydropower Sustainability Governance Committee (HSGC) represents the Hydropower Sustainability Council (HSC) in promoting the use and integrity of the Hydropower Sustainability Standard and Tools.

The HSGC is composed by the chair and alternate of each HSC chamber.

 
 

Responsibilities

The Governance Committee is responsible for:

✓ Approving modifications to the Standard and Tools, and considers recommendations for change

✓ Ensuring an appropriate mechanism is in place to address comments or complaints relating to the Standard and Tools or their use

✓ Considering and approving any translations of the Standard and Tools

✓ Deciding on any revisions to the Terms and Conditions for use of the Standard and Tools

✓ Deciding on the principles and approves the processes for accreditation of assessors (including any sanction or removal of licences)

✓ Ensuring that the Chambers follow the Council Charter

✓ Reviewing and commenting on budget and work plans with respect to strategic direction

✓ Receiving a yearly report on the implementation of the Standard and Tools summarising official applications

✓ Convening working groups to assist with its responsibilities when needed

✓ Ensuring principles behind the creation of the Standard and Tools are upheld, and their integrity is protected
